In this session, we talk about how moving around in the mountains, and specifically in avalanche terrain, is a Wicked Learning Environment.

Wicked learning environments are characterized by poor feedback loops and insufficient data for informed decision-making, among other key characteristics. Kind learning environments, on the contrary, kind learning environments have clear, well-defined rules and good feedback loops.

I did not talk about how snowy mountains are like white rabbits, but this is a concept that snowy mountains look white, soft, pretty, fluffy, and very friendly. It's very hard for our brains to take all of these cues and imagine what "could be" if a big avalanche were to occur. I also recently gave a talk to a teenage group at the Mountaineers, which I titled, Wicked Rabbits, hence my name here as well. I'm attaching the slides from that presentation below, although they don't have a ton of context associated with them. However, I hope a few are helpful, and maybe my first go at AI images is at least entertaining.
